Questions

- What did you think or feel about the film?

Well first of all I have to say that the film wasn't really impressive to me. Why? Because I had seen many films about this kind of topics.

And it's a bit judgmental. Okey I'm agree with what I see in this film was true, but I refuse to believe that the happiness didn't exist for these people. It's too hard to life in these conditions but, I'm still believing that the most impressive thing is not what they found here, is not the situation that they are living... for me the most impressive thing is that they still dream with a better future, they still smiling. And this is a thing that only strong persons can do.

And the film doesn't say that, doesn't say the most important fact.

- What are the main idea you understood from the native american guy?

Maybe it's a bit complicate to understand the main ideas because ,as we saw, native american people have a very different point of view of all the things around us.
What the american guy transmite me is that they don't see with the eyes, they see with the heart. It's a bit dificult to undersatnd or to explain, and it sounds very surealist, but I don't know why I trust him.
Maybe a way to explain that is with the music and dances, specially the drum, the heartbeat.
Kendall Old Elk also told us that he wants the people to know their traditions and their way of living life, because of that he travels and do talks to people. He said he dances not just to express himself but also to make people happy and for them to feel good.
In my opinion, I have to say that if before the conference I want to know more about native americans, now, I'm facinated with them.

Maori's Religion and CultureThey are the indigenous Polynesia people of New Zealand. They arrived in New Zealand from eastern Polynesia in several waves at some time before 1300 CE. They formed a tribal society based on Polynesian social customs and organization.

Maori's traditions and rites
The most recognised tradition today is the "Haka" which is a war dance. The Haka was performed before the onset of war by the Maori last century, but now they use it like a performance, where a group of people have to follow the lider.

The traditional Maori welcome is called a powhiri, this involves a hongi which is a greeting that involves pressing noses as opposed to a kiss.

A traditional form of cooking called a Hangi is a feast cooked in the earth. The Hangi is still popular and is a viable alternative to a weekend barbecue.

Maori's clothes
They still wear their traditional clothing for special occasions. Traditional Maori clothing was some of the most elaborate in Polynesia. Intricately decorated cloaks were an important item of dress for individuals of high status within Maori society.
Tattooing among the Maori was highly developed and extremely symbolic.

Maori's beliefs
Maori religion was based on the important concepts of mana and tapu. Mana is an impersonal force that can be both inherited and acquired by individuals in the course of their lives. Tapu refers to sacredness that was assigned by status at birth. There was a direct relation between the two: chiefs with the most mana were also the most tapu.

New Zealand

History

I'm going to sumarize the history;

-Many years ago New zealand was first settled by Eastern Polynesians between 1250 and 1300. Over the centuries that followed these settlers developed a distinct culture now known as Māori.

-The first Europeans known to have reached New Zealand were Dutch explorer Abel Tasman and his crew in 1642. But he and his crew were killed by Maoris, so many people consider that the first explorer was James Cook because europeans did not revisit New Zealand until 1769 when British explorer James Cook mapped almost the entire coastline.

-French people colonnize New Zealand, but not for a long time because, later, British people invade New Zealand.

- Some years later, in 1907 New Zealand declared itself a Dominion within the British Empire and in 1947 the country adopted the Statute of Westminster, making New Zealand a Commonwealth realm.

Now New Zealand is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary democracy, although it's constitution is not codified. Queen Elizabeth II is the Queen of New Zealand and the head of state. The Queen is represented by the Governor-General, whom she appoints on the advice of the Prime Minister.

Geography

New Zealand is made up of two main islands and a number of smaller islands. The main North and South Islands are separated by the Cook Strait, 22 kilometres.

New Zealand is longand narrow with approximately 15,134 km  of coastline and a total land area of 268,021 square kilometres.

The South Island is the largest land mass of New Zealand, and is divided along its length by the Southern Alps. The highest peak si Cook Mount. The North Island is less mountainous but it has a lot of volcanos.

The geography of New Zealand is very known for the unique biodiversity that this island presents.

New Zealand has a modern, prosperous and developed market economy with an estimated gross domestic product  at purchasing power parity per capita. So New Zealand was ranked the 3rd "most developed" country in 2010 according to the United Nations Development Programme's.

New Zealand is heavily dependent on international trade, particularly in agricultural products. Its principal export industries are agriculture, horticulture, fishing, forestry and mining, which make up about half of the country's exports.

The population of New Zealand is approximately 4.4 million. New Zealand is a predominantly urban country, with 72 percent of the population living in 16 main urban areas and 53 percent living in the four largest cities of Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, and Hamilton. New Zealand cities generally rank highly on international livability measures. For instance, in 2010 Auckland was ranked the world's 4th most livable city and Wellington the 12th by the Mercer Quality of Life Survey.
